Helping young adults build their path forward
YECP provides individualized employment support to young adults who are preparing for employment, training, or education.
Through YECP, participants work with employment professionals to explore their options, build practical skills, connect with employers, and take steps toward their goals. Support is tailored to each young person’s strengths, needs, interests, and current stage of readiness.
Employment support built around the individual
Every young person’s path toward employment is different.
Some may be ready to begin a job search, while others may need more time to explore career options, build workplace skills, or address barriers that are getting in the way.
YECP provides individualized support based on where each participant is starting and where they want to go. The focus is on helping young adults identify realistic next steps and build the skills, connections, and confidence to move forward.
A partnership around each young person’s goals
YECP is not a one-size-fits-all employment program. Support is shaped around each participant’s circumstances, strengths, interests, and goals.
Employment may be the right next step for one person. For another, education, occupational training, or additional community supports may be a better place to start.
The goal is to help each young adult identify a pathway that makes sense for them and provide the support needed to take that next step.
What participants can expect
Depending on individual goals and needs, YECP may include:
Career exploration and employment planning
Explore career interests, identify options, and develop a plan for moving forward.
Resume and interview preparation
Build practical job search skills and prepare for applications and interviews.
Job search support
Get individualized guidance to identify opportunities and navigate the job search process.

Who can participate?
YECP supports young adults who are connected to:
- The Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP)
- Early Intervention and Youth Branch
- Children and Family Services
Eligibility and registration are determined based on the program requirements and individual circumstances.
Working together to support young adults
Successful employment often depends on more than the young person and their employment counsellor. YECP works within a broader network of support that can include caseworkers, TAP workers, Children and Family Services staff, community partners, and caregivers.
Referrals and program information
If you are a young adult interested in YECP, or a caseworker, TAP worker, Children and Family Services staff member, caregiver, or community partner supporting someone who may benefit from the program, we can help you understand the next steps.
